First Rhode Island Regiment of Foot Battle of Trenton December 30, 2006 Saturday, December 30, 2006, American Rebel Re-enactors relived the Battle of Trenton as they skirmished with troops from the Hessian units that garrisoned the city of Trenton, New Jersey. The ragged American Rebels surprised the unsuspecting German mercenaries and they recovered from celebrating the Christmas holiday celebrations. The fighting raged through the streets of Trenton from the current site of the Battle Monument to the final showdown at Mill Hill Park.
